BOXING LEGEND GEORGE BENTON

Through the years, I paid attention to the results George Benton produced with his fighters - most notably, my favorite boxer, Evander Holyfield. With my goal of being the best boxing teacher I could be, the dream was ignited to meet George.

My dream came true in August 2002, when I found myself in Philadelphia getting counsel
from "The Professor". I was so elated at the
end of the day, that I felt I could fly!

Since that memorable day, George and I have developed a very special trainer / mentor relationship. A special thanks goes to Pete Papaleo, manager of the Joe Hand Boxing Gym, and the late Slim Robinson for assisting me in
my endeavors.

Since then, George has shared his wisdom with me regarding old-school boxing - taking the textbook style and adding slickness, craftiness, life advice, and general wisdom. His sessions in the gym truly were eye-openers. With George,
I got into great shape and finally learned the
style of boxing that always interested me.

George is not only a fantastic teacher. He is a
true gentleman. Every time I am in his company, it is an honor. I thank him for the relationship
we have.

So when the nay-sayers declare it can no longer be done, I know better. Each time I set foot in
a gym to teach, I represent the long line of
tradition passed down from George.

George, I am always in your corner and I know you are in mine. I appreciate everything you
have done for me. I am your protégé, and I would not want it any other way.
