Freddy Marratto comes
from a boxing family.
His beloved grandfather,
Fred, was a talented practitioner of the
manly art who instructed at
the old Hollywood, California YMCA. In ad-
dition, Freddy's great uncle Frankie was a top-rated lightweight
boxer out of Pittsburgh, PA.
But Freddy got his start in boxing one night in 1992, at the Thomas
& Mack Center in Las Vegas, when he attended the first fight between
Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe as a spectator. This recent ring
classic made such
an impression on Marratto that he immediately knew that he must be
involved in the sweet science. Marratto's
parents,
Fred & Claudia,
never knew what
impact this night would have
on their son. But
it changed him forever, and
for that, he is eternally grateful.
With a new purpose in life, Marratto commenced with many years of
practice and involvement in boxing. Always interested in the old
school and clever approach to the sport - something Marratto felt
was lacking in the day's boxing environment - he set out to work
with some of the sport's best trainers.

Influences -
Hall of Fame Trainer George Benton took the
young Marratto under his wing, thus beginning a relationship that
endures today. Freddy worked with the legendary "Professor"
one-on-one and learned the true tricks of the trade. Mr. Benton was
the trainer of many boxing world champions like Pernell Whitaker,
Meldrick Taylor, and Evander Holyfield. In fact George was the chief
second in Evander's corner on that fateful Las Vegas night in 1992.
West Coast trainer Don Familton was a
guiding light in educating Freddy about the long-faded boxing
traditions - the true artful techniques - of old masters of the ring
like Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, and many others. From Mr. Familton,
Freddy learned the keys of success that these all-time greats
utilized in their successful careers.
Our Mission -
"Everyone is welcome. I have trained serious pugilists, as well as
regular people who want to lose weight or just have fun learning a
practical skill. My all-encompassing workout is presented in a
matter-of-fact way that will help the student build confidence,
skill, and strength. Boxing is a big part of my life. I really enjoy
it and want to share it with you."

Thanks to my father for his unbending
faith in my dreams to be involved in the sport - Thomas & Mack,
November 13th, 1992, Pop! Thanks to George Benton and Don Familton
for guiding me along with the technical aspects of the sweet
science. Thanks to Dan Dwyer, my first student, for choosing me as
his trainer. I look forward to the daily
task of training my own set of athletes / fighters, all the while,
passing down the techniques of the old-school.
